Position Purpose
The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for the management of the pharmacy patient service area and all related activities. The Pharmacy Technician will also assist the Pharmacist during the dispensing process of prescriptions upon direction of the Pharmacist. Position will participate in QI activities as needed.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Attendance during the normal work hours is an essential function of the job to ensure work goals are met and customers are served.
- Accepting new or refill prescription requests from patients and distributing already prepared and dispensed prescriptions to patients or patient representatives.
- Collect and confirm patient registration information and inquire if any changes have occurred since the previous pharmacy visit.Â
- Answer telephone calls for refill requests and general pharmacy questionsÂ
- Perform the necessary tasks for accurate prescription distribution which include scanning prescriptions out of the software system, collecting funds from patients, have patients sign electronic signature pad for pick-up verifications
- Facilitate and direct patient counseling requests regarding advice, education, and/or any other medication information or questions to the Pharmacist.
- Reconcile the cash drawer on a daily basis and prepare the deposit and records for the Finance Department.
- Assist the Pharmacist in returning medications not picked up by patients back into the appropriate stock and preform accurate record keeping as it relates to this task.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
Computer literacy. Must be self-directed with good organizational skills; excellent communication skills with high level of comfort interacting with medical providers, pharmacists, pharmacy department staff, and most importantly patients. Previous pharmacy work experience preferred.
License/Certification: Valid North Carolina Driver’s license required.
Working Environment
No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate such as in a typical office.
