The Manufacturing Assistant provides key support to the manufacturing, production and QC teams by performing a wide variety of laboratory support tasks. The individual is a great team player with good dexterity, organization skills, and attention to detail. This position requires working in an environmentally controlled laboratory environment where personal protective equipment and good lab practices are required. This individual also enjoys assisting others, having work variety, and has a passion for organization!

Training on all aspects of position, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), will be provided.

What You Will Get to Do
  • Works in environmentally controlled lab spaces, follows good lab practices, and appropriately uses personal protective equipment (PPE) per protocol for the specific spaces (hair net, goggles/safety glasses, facemask, lab coat, gloves and booties)
  • Routinely washes, treats, and autoclaves laboratory glassware and labware, ensuring materials are properly prepared and available to support manufacturing schedules
  • Restocks laboratory spaces with materials and cleaning supplies and prepares cleaning solutions as needed
  • Tracks expiration dates of stocked materials and removes out of date materials from labs
  • Monitors and maintains supplies needed for manufacturing, and places orders to ensure material availability
  • Ensures information is up to date in electronic inventory software (ERP)
  • Reconciles physical inventory and electronic inventory and maintains organization of lab materials
  • Assists team members with laboratory support tasks such as cleaning of lab hoods, benches, and equipment following SOPs
  • Supports ad-hoc materials/support requests to keep labs running smoothly. Understands work area needs and prioritizes requests appropriately
  • Performs routine accuracy checks of critical lab equipment following standard operating procedures
  • Performs weekly cleaning of lab spaces, equipment, and other housekeeping duties and ensures cleanings logs are up to date
  • Assists as needed with environmental monitoring of lab areas including particle counts, air sampling, and water sampling
  • Follows MMQCI’s protocols based on current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality systems. Follows defined work procedures

Required Skills & Experience
  • High School Diploma, with an interest in working in a laboratory setting or Associate Degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or Chemistry. Prior work history that includes routine glassware washing and inventory stocking tasks preferred
  • Good communication skills, written and oral, with good computer skills
  • Able to accurately perform a wide variety of laboratory tasks quickly with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Experience in a GMP or ISO quality system industrial environment is preferred
  • Has a passion for organization, follows instructions, and enjoys precise, detailed work
  • Strong work ethic; willingness to help the MMQCI team whenever and wherever needed, ability to multitask
  • Must be able to lift approximately 35 lbs
  • Must have manual dexterity to be able to wash and clean large laboratory glassware
  • Able to visually inspect glassware for defects and debris
  • Ability to stand for several hours
Preferred
  • Familiarity with clean room gowning procedures and working in an environmentally controlled environment is a plus
