This position is responsible for the quality assurance of payer authorizations, in alignment with payer policies and internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Reviews and provides feedback to department manager, supervisors, or vendor leaders on quality review outcomes.
  • Monitors for quality assurance trends and shares improvement opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with supervisor and manager in supporting departmental needs.
  • May provide education to internal and vendor team members, based on identified improvement opportunities.
  • Maintains quality assurance outcomes documentation and trending.
  • May assist with developing and writing quality forms.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Experience in identifying and developing quality improvement methods.
  • Demonstrated authorization experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Knowledge of payer policies and authorization procedures

Qualifications

Required

  • Three years of experience in a health care financial setting, or the equivalency.
  • Two years of experience in obtaining or managing hospital authorizations, or the equivalency.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • ICD/CPT Coding demonstrated experience or Certification.

  • This is a sedentary position that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
