The Cashier performs cash handling functions and serves customers in cafeteria and/or coffee shop. Builds positive customer satisfaction. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
General Functions:
- Promotes customer service and building rapport with customers in cafeteria/coffee shopÂ
- Sets up cafeteria/coffee shop for serviceÂ
- Stocks cafeteria/coffee shop to maintain appropriate inventory levelsÂ
- Operates cash register in cafeteria/coffee shopÂ
- Checks all transactions/food orders (content and portion size)Â
- Maintains cleanliness of cafeteria/coffee shopÂ
- Performs cash close out procedures always following established proceduresÂ
- Assures timely service in cafeteria/coffee shopÂ
- Chops, slices, peels food items for special order foodsÂ
- Functions as a grill cook if needed.Â
- Adheres to all BHS safety, sanitation, and HACCP standardsÂ
- Assures all foods are correctly label/dated/rotated when handled and put awayÂ
- Transports food to other areas as neededÂ
- Operates, cleans, sanitizes dishes and necessary equipmentÂ
- Sweeps/mops areas of the departmentÂ
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulationsÂ
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectivelyÂ
- Maintains safe environmentÂ
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Able to read, write and understand the English language.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalentÂ
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year’s food and/or customer service experienceÂ
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous cashier and customer service experienceÂ
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
