FULL-TIME ROTATE
The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for the maintenance, repairs and preventive maintenance of the Hospital buildings, equipment and physical plant. Other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
General Functions:
ï‚· Performs daily maintenance, repairs and preventive maintenance
Department/Business Unit Function:
ï‚· Performs preventative maintenance on many types of hospital equipment and a variety of heating and air conditioning systemsÂ
ï‚· Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, switchers, plugs, receptacles, ballasts, and makes repairs on faucets, commodes, valves and door closures
ï‚· Performs preventative maintenance on a variety of heating and air conditioning systems
ï‚· Assumes responsibility for checking, maintaining and making repairs on:
- Patient room equipment such as beds, bed side tables, lights, nurse call systems and plumbing equipmentÂ
- Boilers, chillers and all associated plant equipment
- Fan motors, pumps (such as sewage, condensate, vacuum pumps), and other auxiliary equipment
- Vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, medical gas wall outlets and regulators, etc.

ï‚· Operates and maintains Emergency Generators
ï‚· Performs inspections to fire safety equipment and systems
ï‚· Runs errands
ï‚· Assists with moving furniture, boxes and heavy objects
ï‚· Documents all work performed on appropriate logs and work orders.
ï‚· Maintains a chemical treatment program for all cooling and heating systems
ï‚· Works shifts as assigned.
ï‚· Assumes on-call responsibilities as necessary according to each facility schedule
ï‚· Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
ï‚· Maintains safe environment
ï‚· Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Trade School in mechanical, electrical or air conditioningÂ
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years in a hospital or 7 years’ similar experience in an industrial setting.Â
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 10 years’ hospital experienceÂ
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification. Training certificate in mechanical, electrical, air conditioning or equivalent experience of 10 years.
