Under minimal supervision, responsible for the coordination of daily activities for Medical Assistants to ensure optimal clinical flow. Provides interpretation and instruction for policies, procedures and practices. Coaches performance of Medical Assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Meets all training and competency requirements.
  • Provides schedules for staffing at respective clinic and provides support for staff and clinicians.
  • Coordinates scheduling of patient tests, ensuring follow-up appointments with physician are scheduled.
  • Provides in-service training and acts as a preceptor; coaches and assists with performance evaluations for medical assistants.
  • Participates with leadership team to ensure effective clinical operations.
  • May document patient exams in electronic health record, noting specifically the exam components, diagnoses, treatment plans, orders, and medications.
  • Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT), documents and reports clinical findings to Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or Provider.
  • Demonstrates proficiency of all MA clinical and administrative duties
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Communicates effectively, written and verbally.
  • Possess analytical thinking – this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient the UT Health Way.
  • Knowledge of EPIC software; may be required to be EPIC super user.
  • Meets all training and competency requirements.
