Approximately 75% of assigned duties are focused on PBB systems and associated equipment, with approximately 25% focused on general terminal facilities maintenance. Work involves electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, plumbing, and control systems and requires the use of diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment; performs related work as required. 聽 SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from the Terminal Manager. Exercises no direct supervision over staff. May provide technical and functional direction, training, and mentorship to less experienced maintenance personnel regarding Passenger Boarding Bridges, PCA units, GPUs, and related equipment, and may assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures and programs. 聽 ESSENTIAL DUTIES The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth. 路 Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, adjustment, modification, installation, and repair of Passenger Boarding Bridges, PCA units, GPUs, and associated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. 路 Diagnoses equipment failures and recommends corrective actions; performs scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance in accordance with Agency requirements, manufacturer specifications, technical manuals, established maintenance schedules, and applicable safety standards. 路 Responds to Passenger Boarding Bridge and related equipment failures, service calls, alarms, and operational emergencies; troubleshoots and performs repairs to minimize equipment downtime and disruption to airline, terminal, and passenger operations. 路 Performs maintenance, modification, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of terminal facilities, systems, and equipment, including electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, elevators and escalators, automatic/overhead doors, baggage conveyor systems, fire suppression systems, lighting systems, water distribution systems, generators, and related infrastructure. 路 Reads and interprets plans, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, and maintenance procedures to diagnose equipment problems and perform maintenance, repairs, modifications, and installations. 路 Operates diagnostic and testing equipment, machine tools, grinders, drills, power saws, hand and power tools, and specialized maintenance vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety requirements and accepted operating practices. 路 Coordinates maintenance and repair activities with Airport Operations, airlines, tenants, contractors, vendors, and other Agency personnel to minimize operational disruptions; may inspect repair or installation work performed by contractors or less experienced staff and verifies equipment is safely returned to service. 路 Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, repair histories, equipment documentation, inventory, and records of materials and parts used through the Agency's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); knowledge of AeroSimple is desirable. 路 Observes and complies with established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, electrical safety, equipment isolation, personal protective equipment, airport security requirements, and other applicable Agency and regulatory standards; responds to after-hours emergencies as required. 路 Performs other duties as assigned. The employee will receive the training, instructions, and support needed to successfully complete any additional tasks that fall within the general scope of their duties and align with the operational needs of the agency. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS 聽 Knowledge of: 路 Principles, methods, tools, and practices used in the preventive and corrective maintenance of Passenger Boarding Bridges, PCA units, GPUs, and associated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, plumbing, and control systems. 路 Occupational hazards and safe work practices related to assigned duties, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, electrical safety, PPE, and work around aircraft operations. 路 Technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, maintenance documentation, recordkeeping procedures, and computerized maintenance management systems 聽 Ability to: 路 Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Passenger Boarding Bridges, PCA units, GPUs, and related systems safely and accurately. 路 Perform assigned terminal facilities maintenance and repair duties safely and accurately. 路 Read and interpret technical manuals, plans, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications. 路 Safely operate diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, specialized maintenance equipment, and Agency vehicles. 路 Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, repair, and work-order records. 路 Organize work, establish priorities, and respond effectively to critical equipment failures and operational needs. 路 Understand and follow oral and written instructions and established policies and procedures. 路 Communicate effectively orally and in writing. 路 Exercise tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within established policy, procedural, safety, and legal guidelines. 路 Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with Agency staff, airlines, tenants, contractors, vendors, and the public. 聽 Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 聽 Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade or possession of a GED and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of Passenger Boarding Bridges, PCA units, GPUs, industrial equipment, or comparable complex mechanical/electrical systems. 聽 Experience should include working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or equipment control systems. General building and facilities maintenance experience is desirable. 聽 Experience in airport or aviation facilities maintenance is preferred. 聽 Conditions of Employment 路 Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver鈥檚 License by the time of appointment. This requirement is in accordance with California law, as the position involves operating agency vehicles as part of its essential functions. 路 Successfully complete background check to obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances. 路 Completion of a 10-panel drug screen for all substances deemed illegal by the Federal Government 聽 PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work in confined spaces and around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various agency sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work and inspect work sites. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 75 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment. 聽 ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
