AsĀ aāÆĀ SrĀ Manager,Ā Data EngineerĀ Operations,Ā youāllĀ lead a team of talented dataĀ and platformĀ engineers responsible for designing,Ā buildingĀ and delivering secure, scalable data platform serving directly to our internal and external stakeholders in Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, ProductĀ launchesĀ and several other initiatives.Ā We areĀ seekingĀ a highly technical, hands-onĀ to serve as the principal owner and administrator of our enterpriseĀ Data Platform. In this role, you will lead the operational health, security, governance, and delivery pipelines of our Databricks environments.Ā
You will beĀ directly responsibleĀ for designing and enforcing security controls (RBAC/ABAC),Ā establishingĀ mature data governance frameworks utilizing DatabricksĀ Unity Catalog, automating workspace deployment, and instillingĀ DevSecOpsĀ practices through robust CI/CD pipelines.Ā

Responsibilities:Ā
Platform Governance & Unity CatalogĀ Management:Ā Own the architecture, deployment, and daily management of DatabricksĀ Unity CatalogĀ across dev, test, and production environments.Ā
Define and enforce catalog structures, schemas, external locations, storage credentials, and metadata tagging standards.Ā
Security & Access Control (RBAC/ABAC):Ā Design and implement fine-grained access control policies using Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC).Ā
Manage service principals, identity federation (IdP), system privileges, and secureĀ secretsĀ management via cloud Key Vaults integrated into Databricks secret scopes.Ā
Workspace & InfrastructureĀ Automation:Ā Oversee multi-workspace administration, including cluster policies, compute governance, runtime versions, and SQL Warehouses.Ā
Provision and scale workspaces programmatically using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools likeĀ Terraform.Ā
CI/CD &Ā DevSecOpsĀ Lifecycle:Ā Build,Ā optimize, andĀ maintainĀ CI/CD workflows for data assets using modern DevOps tooling (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI).Ā
IncorporateĀ Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs)Ā or Databricks CLI into pipelines to enable seamless code promotion, automated testing, and environment consistency.Ā
FinOps & PerformanceĀ Optimization:Ā Monitor platform usage, analyze audit logs, andĀ establishĀ dashboards to track platform spend.Ā
Implement autoscaling policies, spot instance strategies, and cluster-sizing guardrails to control cloud spend withoutĀ impactingĀ business SLAsĀ
Team Leadership & OperationalĀ Reliability:Ā Manage and mentor a small team of Platform Engineers/DataOpsĀ analysts while driving collaborative standards with downstream Data Engineering and AI/ML teams.Ā
Act as the primary incident manager for critical platform disruptions, defining SLIs/SLOs for data availability.Ā
Advanced AI Lifecycle Knowledge:Ā Modern understanding of AI Agent architectures, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and open integration protocols likeĀ MCP (Model Context Protocol).Ā

Education and Experience:Ā
Experience:Ā 10+ years in Data Operations, Platform Engineering, or Data Architecture, with a minimum of 5+ years specifically serving as a lead administrator/architect for enterprise-scaleĀ DatabricksĀ environments.Ā
Masterās degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a closely related STEM field; or a BS with experience working with data technologies, is preferredĀ
Data Governance Expertise:Ā Deep architectural knowledge ofĀ Unity Catalog, including data lineage, row/column-level filtering, and external data shares (Delta Sharing).Ā
Security Acumen:Ā Strong execution of cloud data security principles, including identity management, IAM policies, network security (VPC/VNetĀ injection, Private Links), and compliance regulations (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, or GDPR).Ā
Automation &Ā Tooling:Ā Expert-level knowledge ofĀ TerraformĀ or cloud-native infrastructure automation.Ā
Programming & Big Data:Ā Proficient with Python,Ā PySpark, and SQL for pipeline optimization, custom platform alerting, and script automation.Ā
Education/Certifications:Ā Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.Ā Preferred:Ā Databricks Certified Platform Administrator or Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional.Ā
Experience in data quality assurance,Ā controlĀ and lineage for large datasets ināÆrelational/non-relationalāÆdatabasesĀ
Experience in medical device, healthcare, or manufacturing industries is desirableĀ
HIPAA experience a plusĀ

Compensation & Benefits:

For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $168,800.00 - $253,250.00

This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
