Job Description – Principal Epic Cogito Analytics Consultant


Project: Epic Cogito Support
Location: San Francisco, CA, United States
Work Schedule: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PST
Work Arrangement: Remote with onsite presence 3–5 days per month
Reports To: Data Analyst Supervisor




Position Overview


We are seeking a Principal-level Epic Cogito Analytics Consultant to support its Epic-centered data architecture, enterprise reporting, and healthcare intelligence initiatives. The consultant will work with operational, clinical, finance, and IT stakeholders to deliver production-ready analytics, mentor internal analysts, resolve complex data/reporting issues, and contribute to scalable future-state data infrastructure.



Key Responsibilities


  • Assess current Epic data architecture, reporting pipelines, and analytics workflows and identify gaps and optimization opportunities.
  • Design and implement scalable data models and BI architecture supporting enterprise reporting and population health.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for data quality issues, reporting discrepancies, and pipeline failures.
  • Translate clinical, operational, and executive requirements into technical analytics solutions.
  • Contribute to the future healthcare intelligence platform, including Microsoft Fabric or equivalent modern data-stack architecture.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions.
  • Manage analytics requests through Jira, including requirements gathering, estimation, tracking, and delivery.
  • Develop production-ready reports and dashboards using Epic Chronicle, Clarity, and Caboodle.
  • Work with Power BI, SSRS, Reporting Workbench, and SlicerDicer.
  • Support non-Epic data integration through Microsoft Fabric and REST APIs.
  • Maintain report specifications, data lineage, data dictionaries, and technical documentation.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to internal analysts.
  • Recommend automation and process improvements to reduce manual reporting efforts.


Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive hands-on healthcare data analytics experience.
  • Experience owning enterprise BI or data-platform initiatives.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience translating business requirements into validated analytics deliverables.
  • Experience designing or contributing to healthcare data warehouse/lakehouse architecture.
  • Knowledge of healthcare domains including:
    • FQHC operations
    • Revenue cycle
    • Population health
    • Value-based care
    • UDS
    • HEDIS
    • MIPS
    • CMS
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent requests.

Technical Requirements

  • Expert SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and data transformations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Power BI and SSRS.
  • Direct experience with Epic Chronicle, Clarity, and Caboodle.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and REST API-based data integration.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with Jira, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.

  • Epic Cogito Fundamentals
  • Caboodle Data Model
  • Clarity Data Model
  • Revenue Data Model
  • Clinical Data Model

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional Epic certifications such as Healthy Planet, Compass Rose Analytics, or Caboodle Development.
  • Experience in an FQHC, community health, or multisite ambulatory environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
  • Healthcare data governance and data dictionary experience.
  • Exposure to AI/ML-assisted healthcare analytics.
  • Knowledge of value-based care, population health, and clinical quality measures.
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts.
  • Experience supporting Epic analytics in a live post-go-live environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare data privacy, security, and enterprise architecture.
  • Second-language proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Spanish is an asset.

Engagement Expectations

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week.
  • business hours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PST.
  • Onsite presence 3–5 days per month at Client.
  • Work within DataOps SOPs, including version control, peer review, and documentation.
  • Participate regularly in knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • Meet sprint commitments and proactively communicate risks.
  • All work must comply with HIPAA, and healthcare data governance requirements.
