Meta is seeking a Product Designer at the principal level to shape the future of product experiences across Meta's family of apps and platforms. In this role, you will define design strategy and vision for highly complex, cross-cutting product areas, influencing how hundreds of millions of people connect, communicate, and create. You will operate at the intersection of product craft, systems thinking, and organizational leadership, driving design quality and coherence across multiple teams while partnering with executive stakeholders to align design direction with company priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive design strategy and vision for large-scale, ambiguous product areas spanning multiple teams and surfaces across Meta's family of apps
  • Lead end-to-end design for flagship product initiatives that are critical to organizational milestones, from early concept through scaled launch
  • Develop novel interaction models, design systems, and experience frameworks that establish new standards of quality and coherence across product surfaces
  • Leverage advanced prototyping and AI-powered design tools to visualize end-to-end product visions, accelerate iteration, and influence strategic direction
  • Shape goals and roadmap direction across multiple cross-functional teams by integrating company strategy, executive perspectives, and emerging platform trends
  • Communicate design vision and rationale to executive and cross-functional leaders, driving clarity and alignment on organization-wide and company-wide design priorities
  • Anticipate the evolution of design patterns and systems, proactively leading efforts to align standards across product areas and teams
  • Mentor and direct other designers across the organization, developing shared tools, resources, and processes that elevate collective design practice
  • Partner with product management, engineering, data science, and research to synthesize user insights, technical constraints, and business objectives into cohesive product experiences
  • Contribute to organizational learning by integrating new technologies, including AI, into design workflows and sharing findings that help teams work more effectively

Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating mastery of interaction design, visual craft, and systems thinking at scale
  • Experience leading design strategy and vision for large-scale, complex product areas with cross-functional and cross-organizational impact
  • Experience influencing executive and cross-functional leaders through written and verbal communication, driving alignment on product design direction and priorities
  • Experience directing other designers and shaping design practice across multiple teams, including developing shared frameworks, standards, and processes
  • Experience using prototyping to communicate end-to-end product visions and leveraging AI tools to improve design quality, operational efficiency, or innovation in human-computer interaction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into design workflows to drive measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, or the scope of design output
  • Experience navigating highly ambiguous product spaces where fundamental design principles are not fully established, developing novel approaches that align with broader organizational goals
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience contributing to organization-wide design hiring, mentorship programs, or community-building initiatives that strengthen design practices and standards at scale
  • Experience defining and evolving design systems and visual standards that scale across large, multi-surface consumer products with hundreds of millions of users
