Summary 

The Assistant Golf Professional will directly assist both Director of Golf Professional and the Golf Operations Manager on the overall objectives, policies, programs and fiscal practices for Soboba Springs Golf Course. Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of golf operations and an expert in tournament operations both on the sales side as well as the execution side. Responsible for delegating to subordinates and has the appropriate authority to fulfill assigned responsibility. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all customers.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play.
  • Assist with all opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved.
  • Directly responsible for timely and consistently maintaining the club’s USGA Handicap System.
  • Assist Director of Golf and Golf Operations Manager in all aspects of the tournament operation at Soboba Springs Golf Course, including but not limited to contacting, scheduling, communicating with, and operating golf events. 
  • Maintain consistent communication with all department heads on scheduling of golf events.
  • Assist Director and Manager on projects related to revenue generating initiatives including golf instructional programs, merchandising programs and total facility revenue.
  • Maintain active role in driving rounds of golf.
  • Maintain active role in following operational plan.
  • Maintain clean and formal appearance of the golf shop and other retail related areas.
  • Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including: receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales.
  • Assist with budgets for Soboba Springs Golf Course, Assist Director of Golf and Golf Operations Manager in developing and maintaining player development programs.
  • Assist in with golf car operation, practice facility, and club storage service.
  • Cooperate with guests, members, patrons, committees and staff to render advice, opinions, assistance and services as required at Traditions at Soboba Casino Resort.
  • Remain current on merchandising trends, golf technology, club repair and fitting, golf instruction, financial and inventory control and other business areas of the golf industry.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested. 


Education / Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age, or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. 
  • Must be currently a member in good standing in the PGA of America as a Class “A or B” member or Level 1 in the PGA PGM Program or a person who loves the game and business of golf and will be dedicated to providing the members and guests of Soboba Springs Golf Course with outstanding conditions and service.
  • Must have a working knowledge and an understanding of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf etiquette and care of the course and facilities.
  • Must possess a personality that will make people feel welcome and that reflects favorably on Soboba Springs Golf Course and Soboba Casino Resort. 
  • Must possess organizational ability to maintain extensive records for all past, upcoming and future golf events and scheduled dates.
  • Must play a credible game of golf and have an understanding of golf instruction.
  • Experienced computer user including: Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament, and POS. 
  • Will possess a strong determination to continually assist with the growth of the tournament program at Soboba Springs Golf course.
  • Ability to attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends.
  • Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.


Certificates, licenses and registration

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
  • Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record required (no major violations in past 3 years; fewer than 3 minor violations in past year preferred). See Vehicle Policy for breakdown.
