This hands-on position combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction through our four-year, in-house certificate program, leading to Journeyworker title upon completion. Essential responsibilities include:    Report to work on time and ready to learn and accomplish tasks Attend on-site apprenticeship classes in addition to on-the-job learning while performing responsibilities on the shop floor Learn to operate and understand manual and CNC grinding equipment Learn to grind carbide components according to exact blueprint specifications Read prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media Ensure proper grade segregation is practiced at all work stations Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For: Knowledge and Skills Must have math & mechanical skills/aptitude Must have the ability & desire to do precision work Able to work well independently and cooperatively with team Knowledge of blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers is a plus Regular attendance and solid performance in apprenticeship classes Expectation to work primarily on daylight shift, but available to work any shift needed; stand 8-10 hours per day, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
