Americrane Rentals is a leading provider of operated crane rentals, heavy hauling, equipment storage, and engineered lifting solutions. We support major industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects with a focus on safety, service, and reliability. With branches across multiple states, our fleet is the backbone of our operation and we are looking for a Service Manager to lead maintenance and fleet performance at the highest level.


Position Overview

The Service Manager will oversee all maintenance and fleet management operations for Americrane Rentals. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, regulatory compliance, cost control, and shop efficiency across our crane and heavy equipment fleet. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep experience in heavy machinery, preferably cranes, who understands preventative maintenance, DOT compliance, shop workflow, and the urgency required in a fast-paced rental and project-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations of the maintenance shop and field service technicians
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for cranes, tractors, trailers, and support equipment
  • Ensure fleet compliance with DOT, OSHA, and manufacturer service requirements
  • Monitor equipment uptime, repair timelines, and maintenance KPIs
  • Manage shop scheduling, technician workload, and emergency repair response
  • Develop and control maintenance budgets, parts inventory, and vendor relationships
  • Coordinate major repairs, inspections, certifications, and rebuilds
  • Support operations and dispatch to ensure equipment readiness for scheduled projects
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and fleet documentation systems
  • Recruit, train, and develop service technicians to maintain high performance standards
  • Uphold Americrane standards for safety, professionalism, and operational excellence


Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance management
  • Strong working knowledge of cranes, heavy trucks, or similar industrial machinery
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs
  • Understanding of DOT compliance and equipment inspection requirements
  • Proven leadership experience managing technicians or shop personnel
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Direct experience with mobile hydraulic cranes (Grove, Liebherr, Link-Belt, Demag, Tadano)
  • Familiarity with fleet management software systems (Fleet Cost & Care, Samsara)
  • Experience in rental, construction, or heavy haul environments
  • Technical certifications or formal mechanical training
