SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for managing a dynamic multi-shift warehouse environment with three shifts of staff responsible for receipt and storage of finished goods, both internally manufactured and externally purchased (domestic and international suppliers), processing of full and picked pallet orders, staging and loading of outbound shipments and customer pickups, as well as maintaining inventory accuracy and driving a culture of continuous improvement and safety. Responsibilities also include management of any satellite warehouse operations as capacity dictates.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day warehouse and yard activities related to material and information flow, including receiving, storage, transfers, inventory and shipping to ensure operational and customer service commitments are met.
  • Responsible for performance of operations to financial, operational and customer service metrics. Communication, measurement, tracking and reporting of these elements with lead participation in development of each.
  • Work cross-functionally within the business on strategic projects to support the organization’s growth.
  • Responsible to develop a culture of continuous improvement within the operation to exceed customer expectations in service.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to accomplish warehouse operational objectives through recruiting, training and development, to include relationship management with staffing agencies and maintaining a temp-to-hire plan.
  • Manage personnel reviews, development plans and disciplinary actions for management team and hourly associates.
  • Create, develop, and enforce policies and processes to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Validate ERP and WMS processes to ensure validity of information impacting warehouse operations and other functions.
  • Manage warehouse equipment fleet, regularly optimizing fleet size and type.
  • Management of vendor relationships and negotiation of contracts.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of safety among all associates, including training and record-keeping responsibilities.
  • Maximize operational efficiency through warehouse design and inventory methodology by planning layout, product flow and handling systems.
  • Present and maintain self as subject matter expert through by sourcing knowledge through formal educational opportunities, professional publications, networks and organizations.
  • Support the mission and culture of the organization through actions and behaviors.
  • Demonstrate a passion for supply chain operations and people development.

Qualifications 

 

  • 5 to 10 years managing a high SKU, dynamic, multi-shift distribution operation.
  • Expertise in warehouse management processes and best practices.
  • Proven ability to drive change and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Hands-on experience with WMS and ERP systems.
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage a diverse staff.
  • Analytical thought process with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Education, Licenses, and Certification  Requirements

  • BS degree in logistics, supply chain, business or engineering.
