Nuclear Medicine Technologist

About the Role:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a critical role in the healthcare team by performing specialized imaging procedures that utilize radioactive materials to diagnose and treat various medical conditions. The technologist must adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and themselves from unnecessary exposure. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed patient records, calibrating and troubleshooting imaging equipment, and collaborating closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Ultimately, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist contributes to improved patient outcomes through precise imaging and adherence to best practices in nuclear medicine.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or equivalent credential.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and safely performing standard diagnostic procedures (clinical rotation experience with PET/CT is a plus).
• Skills: Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate, patient-first mindset.

Responsibilities:

• Advanced Imaging & Patient Care: Safely prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals. Expertly operate our brand-new, state-of-the-art Siemens Biograph PET/CT scanner alongside traditional nuclear medicine equipment to capture ultra-precise diagnostic images.
• Epic and Intellipacs - Experience: Demonstrated experience operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and safely performing standard diagnostic procedures. Prior experience with Epic and IntelliPACS (or similar PACS systems) is highly preferred.
• Patient Advocacy: Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, addressing anxieties, and carefully monitoring them throughout the scan to ensure safety, comfort, and immediate response to any adverse reactions.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to federal, state, and institutional radiation safety protocols (ALARA principles) to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and yourself. Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials.
• Quality Control: Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot imaging equipment daily to ensure optimal performance, accurate dosing, and full compliance with regulatory standards.
• Documentation & Collaboration: Accurately document patient history, procedure details, and radiopharmaceutical tracking in Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Partner closely with radiologists and physicians to optimize imaging protocols and assist in the diagnostic process.
