This is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days in the Seattle office. 

Position Overview:

The Solutions Architect works effectively with vendors, business units, developers, product managers, and customers to deliver on organizational goals and identify gaps in technology and processes. Applies cloud computing, modern data platforms, business intelligence, data science, and modern software development methodologies and frameworks. The Solutions Architect builds data pipelines, enrichment processes, provisioning layers, APIs and user interfaces to meet the requirements of key initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Work with business units to provide innovative software solutions
  • Maximize value derived from data and analytics: Build data pipelines to foster value creation using the organization’s data assets, as well as the external data ecosystem. This includes aiding value creation through data exploration, envisioning data-enabled strategies, as well as enabling all forms of business outcomes through data, analytics, and enterprise information policy.
  • Secure data and analytic assets: Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions, and work with Sr. Management to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as protected assets.
  • Consult on major architectural designs to ensure consistency, security, maintainability and flexibility with respect to overall system, technical and product architecture
  • Analyze highly complex systems and technical issues to implement features and enhancements in an iterative way that aligns with strategic technical direction.
  • Aid in the implementation of approved technologies that align with technical architecture, organizational business plans and long-term strategy
  • Make recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness
  • Participate in incident management meetings and provide consultative recommendations on viable resolutions
  • Guide the development of system, technical and product standards based on business plan and vision; research and make innovative recommendations around new technologies
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of hardware and software products
  • Contribute to decisions that impact profitability and operational effectiveness
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled development tools, open-source projects, and best practices in the field
  • Build systems and processes that are fault-tolerant, self-healing, reliable, resilient and secure
  • Ability to work in a hybrid working environment, with several days in the office and several days remote, unless an ADA accommodation is needed.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience 
  • 10 years related experience 
  • Advanced SQL, data modeling, data architecture, and data governance experience
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies, knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles 
  • Knowledgeable in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging technologies 
  • Knowledge in implementing highly available architecture, Business continuity and Disaster recovery processes 
  • Understanding of layered solutions and designs; understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded 
  • Knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies; understanding of business and technology trends and the financial services industry 
  • Consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly 
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills 
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization 
  • Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment. 


PREFERRED: 

  • Experience building data driven solutions in the P&C Insurance industry 
  • Experience with leading enterprise cloud/virtual architectures like AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud platform, etc. 
  • Experience with AI and ML 
  • Experience leading data security initiatives at organizational level 
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks
