Family Advocate - Head Start Program (11-month position)

Location: Easter Seals, Selma-Dallas County
Organization: Black Belt Community Foundation Head Start

Are you passionate about supporting families and empowering communities? Join our Head Start team as a Family Advocate, where you'll play a key role in enrolling children, building strong family partnerships, and connecting families to vital resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and enroll eligible children and families into the Head Start program.
  • Support families in setting and achieving personal goals through Family Partnership Agreements.
  • Facilitate home visits, parent meetings, and community engagement activities.
  • Assist families in accessing education, health, and social services.
  • Maintain accurate family and child records in compliance with program standards.

Qualifications:

  • FDC and/or Associates/Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and community outreach skills.
  • Commitment to family-centered, culturally responsive practices.
  • Basic computer literacy in email, word processing and internet navigation.
  • Able to lift a child weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed.
  • Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
