JOB DESCRIPTION:

Works under the direction of Medical Oncologist in an outpatient practice. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of medical oncology patients within the facility. Provides coordination of patient care. Participates in patient and family teaching. Maintains standards for professional nursing.    Supports and promotes a positive image of professional nursing and the Olympic Medical Cancer Center.  Coordinates activities with the health care team caring for the patients within medical oncology and with outside medical providers. Has contact with patients under a variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. May handle emergency or crisis situations.

EDUCATION

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • BSN or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of one year experience in an ambulatory medical clinic required.
  • Medical oncology experience preferred.

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • OCN certification within 3 years of hire strongly preferred. If not OCN certified, must complete 12 oncology-based CEs annually or total of 36 in a 3-year period.
