POSITION SPECIFICS

ROLE

 

SUMMARY 

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for managing the Sanitation Team and ensures all machines, machine parts, and utensils are clean, sanitary and assembled prior to start up.  The position is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all processing, warehouse, cooler, dock, and employee premises throughout the company’s work area. The Sanitation Supervisor must be trained and certified to operate a scissor lift to permit additional cleaning responsibilities and will overhead facility be cleaning as well as production equipment according to SSOP’s.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Supervision and training of the sanitation employees
  • Ensuring that all machines, machine parts, and utensils are cleaned, sanitized, and assembled properly according to Master Cleaning Schedules following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Fully knowledgeable on the sanitation process, chemicals, USDA and Quality Assurance requirements and safety requirements
  • Maintenance and update the Master Cleaning Schedule
  • Maintenance of records and charts meeting USDA and Quality Assurance standards
  • Contribute to the development and understanding of policies and procedures throughout the plant
  • Report any food safety and quality issues/problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Perform detailed sanitation to maintain compliance with NSF/PGA sanitation requirements for all food lines and packaging areas
  • Must be able to operate various cleaning machines such as floor scrubbers and high pressure sprayers, as well as follow directions related to mixing and handling various cleaning chemicals
  • Start up all equipment after sanitation/pre-flight the lines
  • Microbiological sampling to monitor performance of sanitation
  • Daily maintenance to fillers and ancillary equipment
  • Complete daily tasks following the chemical hygiene program
  • Maintain a safe work environment following all company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Follow and enforce all aspects of our Lock Out /Tag Out policy

 

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

3-5 years’ experience working in a food process manufacturing environment

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

None

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Minimum 2 years in Sanitation leadership
  • Ability to work in a high speed work environment
  • Ability to effectively delegate
  • Trained and certified as a Forklift and Scissor lift operator
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; the ability to maintain detailed record keeping
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Must be familiar with clean in place systems, sanitation procedures, and possess familiarity with microbiological sampling techniques
  • Familiarity with USDA policies and procedures preferred
  • Must be able to lift and move 50+ lbs.
  • Knowledge of production equipment operations, work order systems, stainless steel fabrication
  • Willing to work overtime as needed to include evenings and weekends
  • Understands and complies with all company safety rules and polices
  • Understands and complies with all company GMP Food Safety Policies and Procedures particularly those related to working in the different production areas
  • Can properly clean equipment as well as mix and dispense chemicals per company’s SSOP procedures Use of hand and machine tools.
  • Able to use a volt meter.
  • Able to work effectively in the following environment; cold, hot, wet, high areas.
  • Able to obtain certification with material handling equipment.
