Job DetailsJob Location: Sheridan Community Hospital - Sheridan, MI 48884Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: NursePosition: Staff Educator/Infection Preventionist Reports To: Director of Nursing Schedule: Monday-Friday, dependent on department needs Position Location/Department: Nursing Job Summary: The registered nurse working in this position is responsible for staff education as well as Infection Prevention duties and works in collaboration with Director of Nursing. The staff educator assesses educational needs, develops and delivers training and promotes professional development across the organization. This role collaborates with leadership, impact staff and healthcare teams to support evidence-based practice, enhance competencies and ensure regulatory compliance for all areas of nursing, including infection prevention. The staff educator also oversees orientation and continuing education programs to advance patient safety, staff performance and organizational outcomes. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for education surrounding infection prevention and other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: STAFF EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITES: Plan, develop and evaluate education programs based on identified organizational, departmental and regulatory requirements. Work with department heads to facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding for staff. Work with Director of Nursing and leadership team to ensure competencies are maintained, assist with department specific training initiatives. Serve as the clinical education resource for evidence-based practice and policy development. Act as a liaison with area colleges and universities to strengthen clinical partnerships. Maintain accurate training records for all education provided. Provide back-up to the nursing leadership for compliance monitoring of licensure and certification renewals. Assist in revising clinical education-related policies and procedures in line with updated standards or equipment. Promote and support initiatives related to workplace safety and infection prevention. Participate in quality improvement projects and interdisciplinary team efforts to improve patient care outcomes. Participate in clinical audits, mock surveys and readiness activities to ensure staff preparedness for accreditation surveys. Provide remediation training for staff who demonstrate performance or competency concerns, in coordination with department managers. Develop and maintain standardized onboarding training tools for staff of all departments in collaboration with human resources and leadership. Analyze learning outcomes and staff performance trends to inform education priorities and improvement efforts. Assist in the evaluation of new equipment, procedures or products by developing and coordinating associated training. Assists with house-wide in-service education related to infection prevention and control. Acts as a co-chair for Antibiotic Stewardship Program and is responsible to assure that all documentation is in order for antibiotic stewardship activities. Works with Human Resources to ensure that Employee Health requirements are met for onboarding and current employees. Serves on and lead committees and workgroups as needed. May be called upon to provide direct clinical care during extenuating circumstances. INTERDEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Active participation in hospital committees and task force Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of Nursing School Required, Bachelors Degree of Nursing required, Masters preferred. 3 to 5 years clinical RN experience minimum. Minimum of 1 year experience in education. Checking hospital email at least once per workday since primary source of communication. Effective interpersonal communications skills, ability to manage and organize multiple tasks, positive attitude among fellow associates and customers alike, flexibility with changing tasks and excellent problem-solving skills. Knowledge and skills in quality improvement and research methodologies preferred.
