Your Impact at SAM

The Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Office Technician supports project delivery by processing field-collected data, performing quality control, and preparing accurate client deliverables. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in CAD, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and field teams. Reporting to the SUE Project Manager, the SUE Office Technician helps maintain data accuracy, meet project deadlines, and ensure compliance with industry and SAM standards.

  • Process subsurface utility data in accordance with industry and SAM standards
  • Coordinate with project managers and field crews to meet client requirements and project deadlines
  • Prepare and review project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards
  • Perform initial quality control checks on field data and client-specific deliverables
  • Monitor field crew production and data quality, providing feedback as needed
  • Complete routine project tasks to support efficient project execution
  • Provide technical and administrative support to project team members
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the company’s strategic goals
  • Uphold SAM's vision, mission, and core values related to ethics, safety, integrity, employee development, and operational excellence

What You Bring to SAM

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, GIS, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Previous CAD drafting experience in the subsurface utility engineering, utility mapping, utility coordination, or related fields
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar software for drafting
  • Understanding of subsurface utility engineering (SUE) principles
  • Familiarity with survey data, geospatial information, and field-collected utility data is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and compliance
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with project managers and field teams
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
