Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support production operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment to maximize uptime while meeting strict food safety, sanitation, USDA/FDA, SQF, and OSHA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical production equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and respond quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Install, assemble, and repair machinery, piping, electrical components, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems using schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Repair or fabricate parts using welders, lathes, mills, drill presses, and other shop equipment.
  • Maintain motors, electrically driven systems, PLC controls, VFDs, and related equipment.
  • Support ammonia refrigeration systems and other plant utilities.
  • Test repairs and installations to verify safe, proper operation.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and parts in the CMMS.
  • Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all food safety, SQF, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance experience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial environments.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems preferred.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, with or without notice.

Work Environment

  • Refrigerated food production environment: 34°F–45°F.
  • Wet, cold, noisy, and fast-paced conditions.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.; up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Ability to work safely in cold, noisy conditions while multitasking.
