Hours for this role are going to be Monday - Wednesday 4pm-2:30am, Thursdays off, and Friday 8pm-6:30am.
The Sterile Processing Department at Sanford is responsible to pick all clean supplies for each surgery, and to clean, & sterilize all surgical instruments. In this role, you will have 1 holiday each year.

Summary

Expert in all technical phases of Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Effectively coordinates daily staffing and work activities to assure all tasks are completed efficiently within the specified standards of quality actions. Requires the ability to react in a calm and effective manner in emergency situations. Needs to be creative and well-organized. Self motivated. Works closely with ancillary and support services team members and acts as a resource for staff.

Job Description

Oversees assembly, packaging, and sterilization of packs and supplies. Proficiently performs and supervises accurate sterilization and packaging of instrumentation. Has knowledge of sterilization processes and the appropriate verification of sterilization. Ensures accurate and complete daily distribution of supplies for surgical case carts. Responsible for the inventory and supply of surgical exchange carts and case carts. Prepares documentation and takes personal responsibility for work performed. Identifies variations in processes that require follow-up and reports to manager. Identification of instrument sets by common and standardized terminology. Competent to recognize potential and actual processing errors and immediately follows-up according to procedure or management instruction. Supervises the retrieval of information for recall, instrument/set/supply locations and instrument/set identification. Responds immediately to customer requests for instrument location with effective communication and high-quality customer service conduct. Appropriately completes routine quality checks, summarizes results and assists in preparation of reports to demonstrate compliance with recommendations for Joint Commission, AAMI, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Must possess ability to provide in-services and training as requested or needed. Oversees formal preceptors.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Three years sterile processing department (SPD) experience preferred. Must have strong leadership, management and organization skills; verbal and written communication skills; the ability to effectively plan and adapt quickly to system changes. Supervisory experience preferred.

Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification required. If not certified, market leadership will determine agreed upon time frame to obtain certification based on eligibility and needs of the department. Additional Sterile Processing Certifications, such as Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), and Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) preferred.
