Admitting Clerk

St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital are proud members of Catholic Health and have served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years. St. Catherine's is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. The campus is comprised of a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation care center; 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital and a 60,000 square foot medical office building. DUTIES: Participates in the team approach within admitting to provide a comprehensive, coordinated and seamless service to patients. Assists the patient through the registration process, obtains current and accurate demographic and insurance information. Validates status of insurance and determines amount to be covered by private carrier. Collects required fees and co-pays. Verifies participation in managed care programs as well as authorization for hospital service with primary care provider.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED equivalency required. Associates degree or business school preferred. Minimum of 2 years in a doctor's office or Admitting Dept. required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be computer-literate, have good keyboard skills, and be proficient in medical terminology.
