HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, LLC. is a not-for-profit shared service of Cabell Huntington Hospital/Marshall Health Network, Charleston Area Medical Center/Vandalia Health, and WVU Medicine established to ensure the safe and reliable transport of patients. 

As the sole nationally accredited ambulance service in West Virginia, our program is setting the standard for the delivery of interfacility patient care across our region. Our fleet is comprised of 42 ambulances that serve our eight base locations across West Virginia.

Position Reports To: 
Ground Team Leader

 

Position Interfaces To: 
HealthNet Aeromedical Services Inc./HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, LLC Leadership Team

 

Position Overview: 
The Courtesy Driver position is responsible for transporting fully discharged non-emergent patients from the hospital to their patient’s home or choice of location.

 

Environmental and Mechanical Considerations: 

The Courtesy Driver delivers transport services under the stresses of ground transport, in sometimes hazardous conditions, near moving mechanical parts and within high noise environments. Training and resources are available to mitigate risk as appropriate, but the responsibility to utilize those devices falls to the individual.

 

Minimum Required Educational Level: 
High School Diploma

  

Required Previous Experience: 

At least one (1) year in a position which required driving as the main job function.

 

Preferred Experience: 
Two (2) or more years of experience in a position that involved transporting individuals to and from various locations.

 

Required Certifications and/or Registrations: 

Driver's License in good standing and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record history as described within the company's Driver Acceptability standards

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to sit and operate a motor vehicle for extended time periods
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing and potentially extreme environmental conditions
  • Ability to use close, distant and peripheral vision, depth perception and visual focus
  • Ability to clearly hear and interpret voice, and telephone communication

 

Post-Hire/On-Going Personal Assessments: 

  • Ground transport safety assessment
  • Annual motor vehicle operator report
  • Randomized drug and alcohol testing
  • Understanding of and response to market specific business challenges and successes

 

Position Specific Accountabilities: 

  • Follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations.
  • Test vehicle equipment, such as lights, brakes, horns, or windshield wipers, to ensure proper operation.
  • Provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting vehicle and help them with any luggage or personal effects.
  • Notify team leader of vehicle problems.
  • Complete accident reports when necessary.
  • Communicate with dispatchers and team leader to exchange information and receive requests for passenger service.
  • Drive a company provided vehicle to transport passengers.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, such as regulating tire pressure, and adding gasoline.
  • Pick up passengers at prearranged locations.
  • Record passengers name and the date, on trip sheets, along with trip information, such as time and place of pickup and drop-off, and mileage.
  • Vacuum, clean interiors, and wash exteriors of vehicle.
  • Perform errands for team leader.
  • Perform other duties assigned and with the incumbent’s skill set.
