Maintenance Technician 

Department: Facilities

Location: South St. Paul, MN / Various Beacon Residential Locations

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Travel: Daily travel between Beacon locations

 

Beacon is looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team in the South St. Paul, MN area.

 

If you have experience in residential maintenance, construction, remodeling, or general building repair and enjoy fixing things, improving homes, and solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.

 

This is a great opportunity for someone who knows their way around drywall, mudding, painting, carpentry, installations, repairs, and general residential maintenance and takes pride in doing quality work.

 

Maintenance or construction experience is welcome. We provide the tools and equipment needed to perform the job, although you're welcome to use your own tools if you prefer.

Our Facilities team plays an important role in creating safe, comfortable, functional homes for the people we serve. Every member of our team is expected to work in accordance with company policies and procedures, accreditation standards, state and federal licensing requirements, HCBS guidelines, and applicable contractual and regulatory requirements.

 

What You'll Do

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll help keep Beacon residential homes safe, functional, well-maintained, and welcoming.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance and repairs at Beacon residential locations.
  • Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests.
  • Perform drywall repairs, mudding, patching, painting, and general wall repairs.
  • Complete basic carpentry, flooring, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general building repairs.
  • Install and replace fixtures, hardware, appliances, and other building components as needed.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and compliance concerns.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly grounds, including snow removal, lawn care, and minor landscaping as needed.
  • Ensure grounds are free of trash and debris.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and repairs through logs or work-order systems.
  • Follow all applicable safety requirements, company policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Travel between Beacon residential locations as needed.
  • Be available for occasional on-call emergency maintenance situations.

 

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or a related field required.
      • Demonstrated experience with drywall, mudding/taping, patching, painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
      • Experience installing fixtures, hardware, appliances, or other residential components.
      • General knowledge of building systems, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and safety systems.
      • Construction experience is highly valued—even if your background isn't specifically in facilities maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems and email communication.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
  • Approved by state, federal and government entities to work within BSLS programs.
  • Ability to use office equipment, including BSLS information technology systems.
