The Shift Supervisor oversees the daily production operations of the plant under the direction of an Area Manager or Plant Manager. The supervisor monitors operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met, and develops production schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers. The supervisor also directs production staff, including hiring and training of personnel.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure all operators perform their required tasks and assignments while following all established safety rules and procedures.
2. Maintain safe working environment through effective housekeeping and spill /leak prevention measures.
3. Minimize and control labor costs by enforcing and/or adjusting schedules as needed.
4. Maintain and maximize manufacturing effectiveness by reducing production times and downtime while increasing efficiency.
5. Document and investigate all EHS&S accidents and incidents.
6. Troubleshoot equipment and processes to reduce the generation of off-spec and waste.
7. Ensure all preventative and reactive maintenance is completed to maintain safe, efficient machine operations.
8. Check that finished product meets all customer and internal specs and sign off order.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Chemical or mechanical engineering degree or equivalent chemical manufacturing knowledge/experience
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years in chemical manufacturing or chemical/mechanical engineering degree
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- A wide degree of creativity and self-direction is required.
- Proven track record of focusing on safety, quality, production, and environmental matters.
- Superior communication (verbal & written), ability to motivate, prioritize, and organize in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong supervisory skills and leadership skills.
- Ability to address issues, follow up and implement solutions as required.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- Leads and directs the work of others.
