Baystate Health is seeking an Operations Associate (OA) to join our Medical ICU team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Medical ICU team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care. 

Operations Associate Responsibilities Include: 

  • Bed Management & Patient Flow: Coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers, bed assignments, patient transport, and discharge readiness; monitors bed status and supports efficient patient throughput.
  • Clinical & Team Communication: Serves as a central communication resource for nurses, physicians, case managers, ancillary departments, patients/families, and hospital teams; provides shift handoffs and facilitates timely follow-up.
  • Administrative & Computer Duties: Accurately uses hospital systems and maintains patient records, logs, forms, charts, and discharge/transfer documentation.
  • Unit Support & Staffing: Assists with staffing assignments, scheduling, coverage, unit projects, and supports Hospitalists and teaching teams with daily operational needs.
  • Supplies & Unit Operations: Maintains inventories, orders and charges supplies, restocks unit materials, and ensures required logs and resources are up to date.
  • Patient & Emergency Support: Greets new patients/families, assists with inquiries, and initiates emergency procedures and mobilizes appropriate support when needed.

Schedule Details 

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 36 hours per week 
  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM 
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts 
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Friday and Saturday Night
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other Holiday

No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
