Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our Medical/Surgical team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Medical/Surgical team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care. 

Patient Care Technician Responsibilities Include:

  • Patient Care & Monitoring: Provides safe, age-appropriate care; obtains and documents vital signs, measurements, intake/output, and changes in patient condition; promptly reports concerns to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Clinical Procedures & Testing: Performs approved treatments and procedures, including dressing changes, specimen collection, EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, and other unit-specific clinical functions in accordance with Baystate Health policies.
  • Treatment & Provider Support: Assists nurses and providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, elimination needs, and other delegated patient care activities; monitors patients and reports unexpected changes.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Communicates respectfully and effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team; recognizes culturally based needs and supports both clinical and non-clinical team activities.
  • Patient Safety & Emergency Response: Maintains patient safety, initiates appropriate emergency procedures, provides one-to-one patient observation when required, and maintains required clinical competencies.

Schedule Details 

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 36 hours per week 
  • Shift: Night, 7pm-7:30am
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts 
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Friday and Saturday Night
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other Holiday
