Job Summary
The Classroom Aide at St. Louis Catholic Academy provides instructional, clerical, and supervisory support to teachers in fostering a positive, faith-filled learning environment. This role assists with classroom management, student engagement, and daily educational activities while supporting the school's mission of academic excellence and Catholic formation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with the implementation of daily classroom lessons and activities.
- Provide individual and small-group support to students to reinforce learning objectives.
- Help prepare instructional materials, classroom displays, and educational resources.
- Monitor student behavior and assist with maintaining a positive, respectful classroom environment.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and other assigned times.
- Support students with academic tasks, assignments, and organizational skills.
- Assist with grading, recordkeeping, filing, copying, and other clerical duties as directed.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Encourage student participation, engagement, and appropriate social interactions.
- Communicate student concerns and progress observations to the classroom teacher.
- Support students with special needs or accommodations as directed by the teacher and administration.
- Model Christian values and promote the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required Safe Environment training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate degree or college coursework in education preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, daycare, tutoring, or youth program setting preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages and abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to follow teacher direction while working independently when needed.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Successful completion of background screening and Safe Environment requirements.
