Job Summary
St. Ambrose Catholic School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Extended Care Aide to support students in our before-school and after-school care program. The Extended Care Aide is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment where students can learn, play, and grow while reflecting the mission and values of Catholic education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise students during before-school, after-school, and extended care hours.
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate behavior of all students.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
- Assist students with homework and provide academic support as needed.
- Monitor attendance and maintain accurate student records.
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and school administration regarding student needs and concerns.
- Foster positive relationships with students through encouragement, guidance, and mentorship.
- Assist with snack distribution, cleanup, and daily program organization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
- Follow all school policies, health and safety procedures, and child supervision standards.
- Support and model Catholic values and Christian behavior in all interactions.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a positive school community.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, childcare, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise and engage groups of children effectively.
- Positive attitude and commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
- Ability to pass background screening and complete required safe environment training.
