Extended Care Aide

Job Summary

St. Ambrose Catholic School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Extended Care Aide to support students in our before-school and after-school care program. The Extended Care Aide is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment where students can learn, play, and grow while reflecting the mission and values of Catholic education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise students during before-school, after-school, and extended care hours.
• Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate behavior of all students.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Assist students with homework and provide academic support as needed.
• Monitor attendance and maintain accurate student records.
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and school administration regarding student needs and concerns.
• Foster positive relationships with students through encouragement, guidance, and mentorship.
• Assist with snack distribution, cleanup, and daily program organization.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Follow all school policies, health and safety procedures, and child supervision standards.
• Support and model Catholic values and Christian behavior in all interactions.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a positive school community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, childcare, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to supervise and engage groups of children effectively.
• Positive attitude and commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
• Ability to pass background screening and complete required safe environment training.
