About the role
The SRC Student Employee helps create a welcoming, safe, clean, and positive environment for students,
community members, vendors, rental groups, and other guests who use our Student Recreation Center (known as the SRC).
This position provides opportunities to develop real-world skills in customer service, hospitality, communication, leadership, problem-solving, facility operations, and professionalism while representing Bethel University well.
What you'll do
- Greet and assist guests.
- Monitor the facility, maintaining clean and organized spaces.
- Manage equipment and facility set-ups.
- Respond politely and professionally to the needs of those using the SRC, showing great hospitality and customer service.
Qualifications
- Must be a current Bethel Student.
- Expectations include being dependable, attentive, and willing to take initiative to help wherever help is needed.
- Ability to work independently during your shift.
- Must be professional and respectful when interacting with guests, staff, faculty, and co-workers.
Physical Demands of this Role:
- Ability to lift, carry, move, and organize recreation equipment and facility supplies.
- Ability to assist with facility set-ups and tear downs.
- Ability to perform light cleaning and maintenance-related tasks.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and occasionally lift moderately heavy items.
- Physical demands may vary depending on facility needs and events.

Work Environment:
This position takes place within the SRC and involves working with recreational activities, athletics, and community sports events. Employees will interact with a wide variety of students, faculty/staff, community members, vendors, rental groups, and guests.
The environment can range from quiet periods, when employees may work independently, to busy periods and events requiring full attention and interaction. Employees are expected to maintain a welcoming, professional, clean, and organized environment regardless of how busy the facility is.

Expected Work Schedule:
The position requires flexibility based on the SRC operational needs and employee availability. There will be
6 availability cycles throughout the year. Student employees will be asked to provide their availability through a
scheduling form prior to the start of each cycle. Schedules will vary based on facility needs, events, and
employee availability. There is potential for pop-up events throughout the year, please keep in mind you may
be asked for availability to work a weekend with a two-week notice.
