The City of St. Peters is seeking a motivated individual who enjoys performing manual labor outdoors to join our Parks Department team as a Parks Worker with the Maintenance Crew Projects Team. This position involves construction and maintenance duties in 27 parks and over 29 miles of recreation trails. From building new outdoor park facilities to repairing and maintaining existing ones, you'll play a crucial role in keeping our parks and trails in top condition year-round. Prior experience is preferred but not required.
Normal Shift: Mon-Fri 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (some weekends required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general construction operations including concrete installation, asphalt paving, material hauling, gradework, installation of stormwater structures, and light and heavy equipment operation including vehicles up to a Class A CDL with air brakes.
- Perform minor building and facility repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and electrical tasks.
- Assist with the upkeep and repair of parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and trails.
- Maintain light and heavy equipment, power tools, and motorized equipment.
- Assist with snow removal operations during the winter months.
- Clean park facilities, remove trash, and ensure the cleanliness of restrooms and recreational areas as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- High School graduate or GED certificate.
- One (1) year of applicable experience.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and carry it a reasonable distance and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 lbs.
- Must have Class "B" with air brakes CDL valid in the state of Missouri or obtain within 120 days of employment. Commercial drivers' instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
