Professional Growth Opportunities

As a Quality Co-Op, you'll gain real-world experience while contributing to quality assurance and quality control initiatives that support product excellence and operational performance. Students will have opportunities to develop skills in:

  • Analytical laboratory testing and sample preparation
  • Quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Laboratory equipment calibration and verification procedures
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Statistical evaluation and trend identification

  • Cross-functional collaboration with laboratory and operations teams

What You'll Do

The Quality Co-Op supports the Quality Department by assisting with laboratory testing, quality assurance activities, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that help ensure product quality and operational excellence.

  • Conduct standard laboratory tests on production and special project samples while following established procedures and good laboratory practices
  • Assist with laboratory instrument calibrations, performance checks, and test validation activities
  • Support special projects involving comparative testing, method evaluations, and laboratory process improvements
  • Collect, organize, and analyze quality data to identify trends, outliers, and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with Lab Technicians, Chemists, Data Analysts, and Quality leadership to support departmental objectives
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory records, documentation, and reporting systems to ensure data integrity
  • Support efforts to keep laboratories clean, organized, and operating efficiently
  • Develop reports, recommendations, and presentations that support quality and operational decision making

Required Qualifications

  • Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environment
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry principles and good laboratory practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of college laboratory coursework involving analytical testing and data collection
  • Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • Coursework or project experience involving quality assurance, quality control, or statistical analysis
  • Experience interpreting data and identifying trends to support business decisions
  • Interest in industrial manufacturing, mining, chemical processing, or laboratory operations
  • Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
