POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is a key member of Destination Hospitality’s finance team, working closely with the Controller to support the day-to-day accounting functions of our multi-entity hospitality and restaurant group. This hands-on role touches nearly every area of the accounting cycle, including month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll support, and operational analysis.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to expand their skills and responsibilities within a growing hospitality organization. The Senior Accountant will work collaboratively with the accounting team and restaurant operators while developing toward greater responsibility within the finance organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Monthly Close & Financial Reporting

  • Assist with the monthly close process across multiple entities and locations.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Support preparation of entity-level financial statements and internal reporting.
  • Investigate and explain variances related to revenue, labor, and operating expenses.

General Ledger & Accounting Operations

  • Maintain accurate accounting for restaurant revenue, gift cards and deferred revenue, inventory and cost of goods sold, and intercompany transactions and allocations.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy, including balance sheet reconciliations, prepaid expenses and accruals, fixed assets, and depreciation.
  • Support bank, cash, credit-card deposit, merchant, and POS-to-general-ledger reconciliations as applicable.
  • Support year-end financial review, tax preparation, insurance audits, and other external reporting requests.

Accounts Payable & Payroll Support

  • Support weekly accounts payable payment processing and resolution of vendor invoice discrepancies.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing and assist with payroll reviews for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work collaboratively with the Controller and accounting team to ensure recurring accounting deadlines are completed accurately and on time.

Operational & Process Improvement

  • Partner with operations managers to resolve daily accounting issues and provide clear, service-minded support.
  • Support cost-control efforts through basic margin, expense, and operating analysis.
  • Help maintain consistency in financial processes and accounting practices across locations.
  • Assist with process improvements related to close, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Support system cleanups, mappings, and data validation as needed.
  • Assist with the continual refinement of accounting processes and financial SOPs.

JOB‑SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Skills

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and month-end close responsibilities.
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment preferred; previous experience in restaurants, hospitality, construction, or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software, with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation

  • $75,000-$90,000 Annual Salary

Management Benefits

  • Health insurance eligibility for full-time management: pre-tax employer contribution up to $125 per pay period; medical, dental, vision, and accident plans available
  • Paid time off: up to 80 hours PTO accrued per 2,080 hours worked during the first year, up to 120 hours of PTO accrued the second year, and increasing to up to 160 hours per year after 5 years of service; paid sick leave per Colorado law
  • Tuition reimbursement up to $1,000 for pre-approved, industry-related coursework
  • 401k Eligibility with 3% Employer Match after one year of service.
