Electrical Harness Design Engineer

Capital Harness/Defense Vehicles

We are hiring an Electrical Harness Design Engineer to support electrical wiring harness design and development for next-generation combat vehicles and defense systems. This role supports electrical harness architecture, connector and component selection, vehicle routing, environmental design requirements, and harness development using Capital Harness System (CHS/Mentor Graphics), including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology.

 

The engineer will also collaborate on 3D harness routing using Creo (Pro-E) and NX, develop electrical installation and wiring documentation, define vehicle-level pin-to-pin interconnects, and coordinate harness routing and space requirements with systems engineers, CAD designers, and physical architecture teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical wiring harnesses for next-generation combat vehicle applications.
  • Select harness components, including connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, and related electrical interconnect hardware.
  • Determine vehicle harness layouts, routing paths, and branch points for multi-branch wiring harnesses.
  • Design harnesses to meet environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence, and exposure to harsh chemicals.
  • Develop electrical harness designs using Capital Harness System (CHS/Mentor Graphics), including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology.
  • Coordinate with CAD designers to route wiring harnesses in 3D CAD environments using Creo (Pro-E) and/or NX.
  • Support development and release of harness drawings, electrical installation drawings, wiring diagrams, and related engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to define vehicle-level pin-to-pin electrical interconnects.
  • Coordinate with physical architecture teams to define harness routing channels and space claims.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance if required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Less than one year of professional experience sought.
  • Ability to balance cost, schedule, and technical priorities in an engineering environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use engineering development and test tools.
  • Ability to maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary engineering and design teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS/Mentor Graphics), including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro-E) for 3D CAD design and harness routing.
  • Experience with Siemens NX.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio.
