Position Description:

Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington (CCDA) Emergency Assistance (EA) ministry provides funds to individuals and families experiencing a financial emergency.  The EA Case Coordinator Assistant is responsible for assisting EA staff with administrative tasks such as responding to emails from individuals and agency referrals requesting emergency financial services and assisting applicants in completing accurate and timely emergency assistance applications.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide referrals and weblinks for applicants to access services within CCDA programs or externally for housing, employment, and other basic needs.
  • Research new community resources and maintain up-to-date referral resources for the ministry.
  • In alignment with Agency and Ministry standards, maintain up-to-date and accurate client files and databases.
  • Work collaboratively with case managers and collateral contacts in identifying needed resources for applicants.
  • In alignment with Ministry standards, assist EA case coordinators with responding to inquiries and ineligible applicants. 
  • Responsible for updating EA Partner referral autoreplies.
  • Provide direct support to Program Director for budget, client assistance and vendor payment administration.

 

Other Duties:

  • Willing to travel within the Diocese of Arlington as needed.
  • Willing to uphold Catholic social teaching in the workplace.
  • Assist with client events and community outreach.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Effective listening, written and oral communication skills in English; additionally bilingual in written and spoken Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to adapt communication methods to meet cultural preferences with sensitivity.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and procedures, comply with processes, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Associate's degree with at least 1-year experience in the provision of human services is preferred.
  • Experience assisting underserved populations preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other relevant web and software applications.
  • Experience with database data entry required.

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
