Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community-Based Prevention Specialist will plan, coordinate and implement prevention services

including evidence based/informed programming to local colleges, agencies and community members

throughout Centennial’s 10 county catchment area. Prevention activities will include facilitations of trainings

and workshops, community need assessments, and outreach to various populations to ensure referral

pathways for behavioral health services.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish ongoing collaborative relationships with local colleges, agencies and community members
  • to establish and meet the needs of prevention services throughout Centennial’s 10 county catchment
  • area.
  • Work in conjunction with the Prevention Team to coordinate prevention efforts including need
  • assessments, resource development, trainings and workshops in the communities.
  • Serve as primary provider for evidence based curriculum delivery within communities.
  • Provide information and connection to community resources and public benefits.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous skill development to competently serve communities with
  • diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Provide information and connection to community resources and public benefits.
  • Refer community members for ongoing behavioral health services when necessary.
  • Maintain timely records and data collection for measuring goals and outcomes of the program and
  • services.
  • Attend trainings, workshops, conferences and meetings that will further the ability to consult in the
  • community setting.
  • Frequently travel to various communities within Centennial’s 10 county catchment area. Non-
  • traditional working hours may be required to meet the needs of these communities.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Certified Addictions Specialist, Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or Certified Prevention Specialist II

preferred but not required.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in working with diverse communities and agencies in a rural region.
  • Knowledge and skill sets directly related to prevention, intervention and referral for treatment of
  • individuals.
  • Experience in public speaking and providing trainings/presentations.
  • Adjusts flexibly to new situations encountered on a daily basis and has the ability to learn new duties
  • quickly.
  • Maintains a constructive working relationship between and among employees at all levels of the
  • organization.
  • Works effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Works professionally with others, both inside and outside of the organization.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may be required.
