Assistant Branch Manager


As an Assistant Branch Manager, you will lead a team in meeting customers’ financial needs through a consultative approach and exceptional customer service. The Assistant Branch Manager is both a producer and a coach for a team of bankers who engage with customers and prospects in person, through outside business development, and by phone. The successful candidate is individually driven, competitive, and motivated to collaborate as a team player to achieve shared goals. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, energetic environment, can effectively manage processes, and is committed to providing personalized customer service. This position offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with retail or sales experience who are interested in a career with growth, development, and upward mobility.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Branch Manager with hiring, scheduling, coaching, and training branch staff to ensure appropriate coverage and support a strong team environment by motivating and leading employees
  • Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of all retail roles and oversee staff responsibilities to ensure compliance with branch processes and procedures
  • Demonstrate the bank’s full range of resources and educate associates on traditional in-branch services, digital capabilities, and business partner resources
  • Meet personal and associate goals through required levels of in-person and outbound calling activities, using a needs-based approach to offer valued solutions and recommendations
  • Facilitate consumer loan requests by soliciting loan opportunities, maintaining knowledge of loan policies and procedures, supporting branch consumer loan portfolios, and coaching staff to effectively sell and process consumer loan requests
  • Identify customer needs and refer customers to appropriate partners, including small business, corporate and institutional banking, mortgage, and financial advisory teams
  • Grow existing small business banking relationships and develop new relationships within the market through outside sales activities
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction by reviewing client experience results, coaching staff, and implementing plans to support an optimal customer experience
  • Perform regular branch audit functions, including teller cash audits, compliance documentation audits, clerical tasks, supervisory reporting, and management reporting as requested
  • Perform audits of teller cash drawers and cash vaults
  • Perform audits of the Teller Coordinator’s teller drawer and vault
  • Ensure all departmental documents and activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including completion of required compliance training
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Previous retail supervisory experience required
  • This position requires registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)
  • Obtain an NMLS license after employment, if not already registered. Please refer to the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System for more information

 Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to understand and use social media platforms to support brand awareness and gather market knowledge

Other Qualifications

  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, bank conversions, and acquisition support
  • Ability to provide support and guidance at other branches within the market
