SAIC is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a Senior Systems Administrator with experience in US Navy IT networks to support the sustained operation and maintenance of a newly deployed US Navy enterprise transport network, ensuring 24/7/365 availability and reliability. The position will support end-to-end network, system, and element visibility; facilitate rapid operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning to maintaining the operational integrity of a mission-critical network, requiring both technical expertise and a commitment to excellence in service delivery. This position will work a schedule of 7AM – 3PM, 5 days per week to include weekends and a rotating on call requirement.Â
Work will be performed at the Navy customer’s site in Suffolk, VA.
Specific duties include:
- Provide Tier 2 level engineering operations support to quickly identify, triage, and address outages, analyzing symptoms and potential root causes to implement effective resolutions or escalate to Tier 3/Tier 4 support as required.
- Utilize advanced monitoring tools and processes to oversee network infrastructure, monitor the performance and availability of managed services and systems across multiple exchange points, and ensure optimal performance.
- Perform day to day maintenance, fixes, configuration corrections, software and hardware updates, and deployments.
- Adhere to system and operational reporting obligations.
- Operate and maintain the privileged access solutions.
- Maintain continuous verification of failover processes and disaster recovery procedures.
- Operate and maintain hardware upgrade process and procedures.
- Update and maintain any software builds applicable to deployed equipment.
- Operate and maintain asset management processes and procedures.
- Operate and maintain configuration management.
- Enact change management for the solution.
- Operate and maintain existing incident management processes.
- Keep firmware, software updates and patches up to date for equipment.
