The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services is looking for a Functional Family Therapist to join our team! We’re seeking caring and dedicated individuals who enjoy working with youth and families and want to make a positive difference in their lives.

In this role, you will:
- Work as part of an FFT team to provide support both in the office and in families’ homes.
- Support approximately 5–12 families with youth ages 10–17 who are referred through the Department of Social Services or Probation Department.
- Help families:
- Improve communication
- Build stronger relationships
- Work through challenges together
- Create positive changes for their youth and family
- Receive training and support as you learn and apply the Functional Family Therapy approach.

Responsibilities
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Provide comprehensive intake and assessments of assigned clients.
-  Assist family members in devising and implementing FFT service plans and strategies of intervention for the family considering all aspects of the family’s life and targeting behavioral change for youth via FFT methodology.
- Â Initiate and maintain regular contact with clients, conducting home visits and therapy sessions of significant duration/frequency based on FFT consultation.
- Â Participate in FFT training, FFT consultation/case conferences, and consult with FFT Supervisor in providing services based on FFT principles (e.g. Engagement Dynamics, How to Approach Behavior Change). Maintain FFT narratives, statistical information, outcome monitoring and providing ongoing clinical assessments and case recommendations utilizing FFT formats.
- Maintain liaison activities with collaborative partners.
- Â Provide case recommendations to the Probation Monitor regarding the justice system, educational needs or other individual needs for the youth in the family; and to other service providers regarding client utilization of and need for services, mental health/substance abuse issues, youth, family or community safety, and/or issues pertinent to after care planning.
- Demonstrate cultural competence, as well as integrate understanding into daily responsibilities and participate in meeting the objectives of The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or related clinical field is required. Will also consider candidates nearing completion of these degree programs.
- License is preferred.Â
- Valid driver's license and access to working vehicle required to provide counseling and outreach services.
- Ability to access and navigate various physical environments, including buildings and facilities that may not be ADA compliant.Â
