Medical Assistant Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care within an integrated outpatient behavioral health clinic. Working closely with registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), medical providers, behavioral health staff, and administrative team members, the Medical Assistant provides direct patient care support, assists with clinical procedures, maintains accurate medical records, and supports day-to-day clinic operations.
Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care support alongside RNs, LPNs, and medical providers, including patient preparation, vital signs, and communication of patient needs.
- Perform delegated clinical procedures and point-of-care testing, including EKGs, phlebotomy, and urine collection, in accordance with established protocols.
- Document patient histories, screenings, clinical information, and procedures accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Prepare, maintain, and coordinate medical records, including obtaining external records, lab results, and other clinical documentation.
- Assist with patient education, appointment scheduling, transportation coordination, and communication with patients, pharmacies, and healthcare providers.
- Maintain clinic readiness by stocking supplies and supporting daily operations, team huddles, and multidisciplinary care coordination.
- Follow HIPAA, infection prevention, safety, quality, and compliance standards while providing culturally responsive, respectful, and patient-centered care.
Medical Assistant Qualifications:
- Certificate from a college, technical school, or recognized Medical Assistant program, or high school diploma/equivalent with at least one year of relevant healthcare experience.
- CMA or RMA certification preferred, but not required at time of hire.
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures, terminology, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on responsibilities, take initiative, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing patient and clinic needs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient family and behavioral health clinic environment while maintaining accountability and accurate documentation.
Pay Range: $23/hour to $24/hour
