Big Bend Health is looking for a skilled, dependable Facilities Technician II to join our team. This is an opportunity for an experienced facilities professional who wants more than a routine maintenance job. As a Facilities Technician II, you’ll play a key role in keeping our healthcare and hospice environments safe, comfortable, efficient, and operational across multiple Big Bend Health locations. And with a primary focus on HVAC and building systems, your technical expertise will have a direct impact on the people and teams we serve. ️ WHAT YOU'LL DO You'll have a diverse day-to-day role that combines HVAC expertise, skilled building maintenance, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, projects, and emergency response. Your responsibilities will include: ❄️ HVAC & Building Systems Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and related building systems. Work with rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, air-handling and ventilation systems, controls, and related components within your authorized scope. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, airflow, temperature, humidity, and equipment issues. Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and organizational requirements. Monitor equipment performance and identify aging, inefficient, or repeatedly failing equipment. Recommend repairs, replacements, and opportunities for improved efficiency. Maintain accurate HVAC, preventive-maintenance, service, and equipment records. Coordinate qualified contractors when work exceeds your authorized scope. Skilled Building Maintenance Put your hands-on skills to work with: Carpentry and building repairs Drywall, painting, patching, caulking, flooring and trim Doors, frames, hardware, cabinets, shelving, ceilings and fixtures Minor construction, renovations, installations and facility-improvement projects Safe operation of hand and power tools, ladders, lifts and other maintenance equipment ⚙️ Preventive Maintenance & Asset Management You'll help us stay ahead of problems—not just react to them. You'll perform and document preventive maintenance, manage work tickets, monitor recurring equipment issues, maintain asset inventories, and help identify replacement priorities and facility improvement opportunities. Multi-Trade Maintenance Your skills may also be called upon for: Plumbing Electrical and lighting General facility repairs Equipment maintenance Grounds and exterior maintenance Lawn and landscaping upkeep Fleet and facility-support activities Furniture and equipment moves Facility and event setup You'll work within your training, certifications, authorization, and applicable regulations—and know when it's time to bring in specialized expertise. As an essential employee, you'll participate in the Facilities Department's established on-call rotation and be prepared to respond to urgent and emergency facility needs during assigned evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-business hours. You'll also help maintain grounds, landscaping, entrances, walkways, parking areas, and exterior spaces so our locations remain safe, accessible, and welcoming. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of facilities maintenance, HVAC/building systems, plumbing, electrical safety, carpentry, mechanical systems, grounds care, and equipment upkeep.   What we're looking for: WHAT YOU'LL NEED Required High school diploma or equivalent At least one year of facilities/building maintenance, construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, grounds, or related skilled-trades experience Demonstrated ability to perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting Ability to safely use tools and equipment Ability to document work and use computerized work-ticket systems Valid Florida driver's license with acceptable driving history Ability to travel between Big Bend Health locations Ability to participate in the required Facilities on-call rotation Preferred We're especially interested in candidates with: EPA Section 608 certification Basic HVAC training NFPA 70E/electrical safety training Healthcare facility experience Skilled-trades, technical, vocational, or apprenticeship training Experience with computerized maintenance management systems Additional training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems, or building systems WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT This isn't a desk job—and that's exactly the point.
