What We’re Looking For:
Iridium is seeking a Network Engineer II to support and maintain Iridium’s Gateway telecom and data architecture and associated service subsystems. In this role, you will serve as a key support resource, assisting with final-tier escalation support to ground systems operations, including Gateway Technical Operations (GTO), Tier 2 Customer Support, and Service Delivery teams. In this role, you will gain valuable experience with satellite telecom gateway technologies across on‑premise and cloud environments. You will contribute directly to the triage activities that impact service reliability, operational excellence, and new service deployments. Â
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with senior engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical issuesÂ
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of Gateway subsystems and services, both on‑premise and cloud‑basedÂ
- Support the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system, including script updates, alert response, dashboard monitoring, and periodic system reviewsÂ
- Assist in the identification, investigation, and resolution of operational issuesÂ
- Work closely with the Operations team to enhance maintenance procedures and improve troubleshooting successÂ
- Partner with team members to ensure that high‑quality products and services are ready for production deployment according to scheduleÂ
- Investigate and resolve Tier 2 customer ticketsÂ
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for Gateway network elements and infrastructureÂ
- Provide technical support to both internal teams and external partnersÂ
- Primarily support the Iridium Certus service suiteÂ
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experienceÂ
- 2+ years of of relevant experience in the telecommunications or a related technical fieldÂ
- Working knowledge of Linux (Red Hat/CentOS), IP network infrastructure, VMware, ATCA platforms, and database systems/tools (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) from installation through maintenanceÂ
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to othersÂ
- Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your teamÂ
- Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when neededÂ
- Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others  Â
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- Any AWS certification (i.e., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, etc.)Â
- Knowledge of:Â
- Communications systems architectureÂ
- Circuit‑ and packet‑switched voice/data communicationsÂ
- TCP/IP communicationsÂ
- VoIP systems, including network managementÂ
- Experience with IPv4 networks, GSM, telecom systems, or real‑time systemsÂ
- Experience with software lifecycle processesÂ
- Experience in software development experience (C, C++, Python)Â
- Experience in IP network engineering, development, integration, and testingÂ
We’ll also need you to:
- Be on call to support major network issuesÂ
- Be able to travel up to 10%Â
- This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of that U.S. government contract, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizensÂ
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.Â

Base Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 USD
Â
Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role. You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus.
