Hourly Wage: $36.11/Regular/Full-Time/Supervisory

Coordinate direct services to children and families. Manages the Nak Nu We Sha program for Native Child Placement with agencies and related components i.e. CPS, Family Preservation Services, Independent Living Services, etc. Manager will be required to balance the need to make decisions that are in the best interest of tribal children with facilitating reunification efforts for tribal families.

Examples of Work Performed:

Provide oversight and supervision as needed for case workers.

Complete staff evaluations annually in a timely manner.

Coordinate and implement in-service training for all Nak Nu We Sha staff and all collateral resources such as IHS, BIA, DSHS and other resources.

Administer and oversee accurate accounting from bookkeeper to prepare and monitor budgets monthly.

Ensure compliance with social workers and DSHS to make sure they are complying with the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978; Law & Order Code, State WACS and federal statutes and regulations.

Develop and implement programs to meet organizational goals to ensure compliance with legal regulatory, ethical and social requirements, ensuring an effective approach to the health and safety of children and effective mitigation of risk.

Provide leadership and management for direct and indirect reports who are responsible for the delivery of Children's services to ensure that effective and sound decisions are made, and services managed in compliance with program requirements.

Implementation between negotiating an agreement under the 701 process and Retrocession.

Assist staff in addressing client complaints and help positively resolve problems as they arise.

Proactively advocate for client services and social justice across tribal and system.

Work with all departments and agencies to develop productive working relationships to communicate required information timely and accurately with follow up as necessary.

Develop and manage quality systems within the Children's Services Department to ensure appropriate performance management by caseworkers.

Develop and implement a policy and procedure manual for Nak Nu We Sha.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the Yakama Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and abide by standards.

Knowledge of Tribal and Children's Court to keep tribal children in the tribal court system.

Knowledge of the 701 processes and retrocession.

Knowledge of social work and bookkeeping.

Ability to work cooperatively and positively with others.

Ability to sit, stand, balance, walk, stoop and kneel.

Ability to lift 10 to 50 pounds or more.

Ability to read, write, communicate and interpret information accurately.

Ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work.

Ability to operate computer, calculator, facsimile and photocopier.

Ability to remain calm in tense situations.

Ability to be a self-starter who is able to turn thought into action and does not need to be prompted to complete a task or assignment on time.

Ability to demonstrate adequate communication, problem resolution or customer service skills.

Ability to listen respectfully and to be creative and flexible.

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree with five years management experience in Social Work.

Required to pass a pre-employment background check and CPS history check. Must complete CPS history check once every two years unless otherwise identified.

Must be able to travel as necessary.

Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.

Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Requirements:

Master's Degree in Social Work focusing on direct practice in Indian Child Welfare expertise in the areas of permanency, improved well-being outcomes for youth in care, family engagement community supports aimed at strengthening families and ensuring child safety required.
