The PFS Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing and posting of all incoming payments and denials from insurance companies, patients, and third-party payers to customer accounts. This position verifies bank deposits, reconciles to posted transactions, and research discrepancies. Provides excellent customer service for collecting on patient account balances. Job duties:  Identifies delinquent accounts through work queues and contacts patients to set up a payment arrangement based on WHA’s payment plan policy. Documents account activity accurately and promptly during or immediately following each patient contact. Save all digital data related to daily payments from bank and insurance websites. Balances accounts receivables to system, deposits and reports. Investigates and resolves discrepancies. Posts patient and insurance payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner. Performs adjustments and write-offs to patient accounts per established guidelines. Review accounts for credits, registration errors and other issues and take appropriate action. Works with internal customers to identify and resolve issues. Processes and confirms patient statement runs daily. Follows up on returned mail. Maintains basic knowledge and understanding of health insurance plans, revenue cycle processes, and policies and procedures. Makes suggestions on improving practices to improve patient financial services and the revenue cycle at WHA. QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required. General bookkeeping or related experience required, preferably in a healthcare environment.
