Position Summary

The Laborer will perform manual labor tasks using common hand tools and simple power equipment. Loading and unloading of aircraft luggage, boxed crates, and cased weapons systems and may be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions.

Essential Functions of the Position

  • Provides baggage support at the Fort Bliss Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group (A/DACG) in support of mobilizing and deploying units/individuals.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
  • Stacks materials for storage or binning.
  • Collects refuse and salvageable materials.
  • Levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake, shovels concrete and snow.
  • Cleans culverts and ditches.
  • Operates simple power equipment, moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances.
  • Spreads sand and salt on icy walkways.
  • Picks up leaves and trash.
  • Provide Labor detail when needed.
  • Must comply with all OSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with all Project directives, the Employee Handbook’s policies, and CBA.
  • Will support and enforce the QC/Safety’s program with all directed guidance.
  • Understand and comply with all Performance Work Statement requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications and Expectations

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Requires basic knowledge of various office software packages.
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions in English.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to maintain proper state registration, proof of insurance, and a valid driver's license to operate Privately Owned Vehicles (POV) on a military installation.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
  • Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC access, to include network access.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain post driving privileges.
  • Prior experience working with/for the US Military, a plus.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check.
