Responsibility Summary:Â The Chemist will be responsible for analyzing batches, measuring physical parameters such as Viscosity, pH, and Density, interacting with vendors, documenting, collaborating with supervisor, and entering formulation.
Responsibilities:
The Chemist supports the R&D Skincare team through a variety of tasks, including:
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date lab notebook.
- Prepare and make lab batches.
- Create qualitative and quantitative ingredient lists.
- Check next-day specifications against the previous day's batch.
- Follow up on ongoing stability studies and report observations.
- Analyze lab batches by measuring physical parameters: viscosity, pH, and density.
- Enter formulations into the company's formulation system.
- Communicate with raw material vendors and attend in-house vendor presentations.
- Manage time effectively to meet batch, testing, and project deadlines.
- Assist in the formulation and development of innovative skin care products, including line extensions and product improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as QA, Regulatory, Production, and Marketing.
- Review results and progress regularly with the supervisor.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper organization of raw materials and samples.
- Follow all laboratory safety, GMP, and internal quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (or Biology with coursework in general and organic chemistry).
- 0–3 years of experience in R&D, formulation, and emulsions, ideally in skin care product development.
- Well organized and highly detail-oriented.
- Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, formulation principles, and production equipment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Genuine interest and passion for cosmetics and skin care product development.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits:Â
The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 - $68,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities.Â
