Job Summary: The Working Foreman at Team Outdoor is responsible for day-to-day on-site production of civil construction projects in the Miami Valley. This position runs the job in the field—layout and planning, crew direction, material and equipment coordination, quantity tracking, and jobsite safety—while working closely with the Project Manager and our trade partners. The Foreman stays ahead of the work, leads by example, and keeps Andy and the Project Managers informed of progress, schedule, and issues.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Production, Planning & Crew Leadership

  • Stay ahead of layout and planning so production is not delayed.
  • Run the morning huddle and set objectives, goals, and deadlines for the day and week ahead.
  • Plan crew needs and outline the work for the next day.
  • Lead by example, work alongside the crew, and keep a positive, productive jobsite.
  • Work with the Project Manager on production planning and with the Surveyor on layout.

2. Layout, Equipment & Materials

  • Read plans, maintain grades, and perform or coordinate layout using GPS and/or Total Station.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including excavators, skid loaders, rollers, and small tools.
  • Order gravel, concrete, parts, and other supplies, and keep supplies on site so the crew is not waiting.

3. Documentation, Communication & Safety

  • Record installed quantities and daily notes each day.
  • Use the company iPad for plans, daily notes, timecards, and email.
  • Keep Andy and the Project Managers informed of progress, issues, and schedule.
  • Maintain professional communication with inspectors/owners and trade partners.
  • Lead weekly toolbox talks.
  • Keep the jobsite safe, tidy, and clean, and address hazards as they arise.


Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Passion for leadership; caring about people and getting things done.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior field experience in construction.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role.
  • Class A CDL or ability and willingness to obtain upon joining the team.
  • First Aid / CPR certification, or the ability to obtain it.
  • OSHA 30 certification, or the ability to obtain it.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a lead operator in civil or commercial construction.
  • Concrete and other versatile trade experience.
  • Experience as a working foreman, crew leader, or equivalent field leadership role in construction.
  • Experience and knowledge of GPS controlled equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and a habit of planning ahead.
