About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This role is critical in managing patient flow by scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and coordinating communication between patients and medical staff. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling sensitive patient data with confidentiality, and facilitating smooth administrative operations. By effectively managing front desk activities, the Medical Receptionist 1 supports the overall efficiency and quality of patient care services. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and empathy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
  • Collect co-payments and process billing information as directed by office policies.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Manage waiting area to ensure a comfortable environment and timely patient flow.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and preparing patient charts for appointments.
